Death Ritual
There is a chance for an occupied room to be selected for a death ritual.
Death Ritual is a timed event in Animal Hospital (Anomaly) where an occupied patient room has a chance to be selected — the door takes longer to reopen, and inside you'll find the patient levitating over their bed, surrounded by ritual candles in a dimmed room. Patients who show Hollow-eyed or twitching symptoms are guaranteed to trigger this event during recovery, though the good news is they won't go on to attack anyone else afterward regardless of their other symptoms.
Behavior
There is a chance for an occupied room to be selected for a death ritual. The patient's door closes if it was open and takes longer than usual to reopen. Upon entering, the patient is found levitating from their bed surrounded by ritual candles in a dimmed room, with the recovery screen showing an error. Patients that are Hollow-eyed or twitching are guaranteed to be put into a ritual on recovery and will not attack other patients afterward regardless of other symptoms.
How to Respond
Remove all candles from the room within 40 seconds, losing 1-3 sanity per candle removed; or tase the patient to break them free instantly; or defuse the candles with Eyedrops, IV Drops, or Coffee without losing sanity. Failing to clear the candles in time kills the patient. Hollow-eyed patients can also be safely rejected at check-in by closing the shutters without affecting shift results.
Quick tips
- Remove every candle in the room within 40 seconds to save the patient — expect to lose 1-3 sanity per candle you clear this way.
- Tasing the patient breaks them free instantly, skipping the candle-clearing step entirely.
- Defusing the candles with Eyedrops, IV Drops, or Coffee equipped avoids the sanity loss altogether.
- If a patient is showing Hollow-eyed symptoms at check-in, you can safely reject them with the shutters — it won't affect your shift results.
- Failing to clear the candles within the time limit kills the patient, so treat the 40-second timer as a hard deadline.
